The following announcement is being made to students this morning: Good Morning Vikings, At the end of the day yesterday an announcement was made regarding a threatening post made on social media. The post was NOT directed at Huntington North. However, a HN student re-posted the threat with a comment. The student’s re-post caused other students to be concerned. This caused multiple other students to post information regarding other threatening comments on social media as well. Each individual threat was investigated and everything is fine. Additional law enforcement is in the building today to help reassure students and staff. Students and staff please rest assure that everything is fine. Today is going to be a great day.

The tragedy in Florida reminds us all of the importance of safety and security in schools. We want to assure our families that our school has an updated school safety plan that has been created/reviewed in collaboration with local law enforcement. The members of our staff have been trained on the specifics of this plan, and we conduct periodic ALICE drills to ensure that everyone knows their role during a crisis. Our school also has specific protocol for entry to our schools, and we appreciate the understanding of our parents as we enforce these protocols for the safety of our children. The safety of our students remains our highest priority. If you see something suspicious, please be sure to report it to your school and local law enforcement. Thank you.
In Huntington County Community School Corporation each student is promised Lifelong Guidelines, LIFESKILLS, and a Secure Environment.
